About the campaign
Civet coffee, or “kopi luwak”, is marketed as a luxury product made from coffee beans that have passed through the digestive tract of Asian palm civets, small nocturnal mammals native to Southeast Asia. Once hailed as the rarest and most expensive coffee in the world, with some cups priced as high as £50, civet coffee is now widely sold online for as little as £15 per packet.
The global civet coffee industry is now expected to reach a net worth of $11.2 billion USD by 2030, a huge profit only achievable because civets are now routinely captured from the wild, caged in cruel conditions, and force fed coffee. What's more, our research has shown that civet coffee is frequently sold to consumers alongside fraudulent claims of "wild collection" and "cruelty free" production - claims which we have verified as fake. Consumer demand for cruelty-free coffee is being purposely exploited.
The global coffee industry can no longer turn a blind eye to the profound animal suffering brewing in its supply chain. Following our eye-opening investigative e-commerce report and documentary, we are calling on coffee companies around the world to actively actively acknowledge civet coffee's “stain” on the industry, and its glaringly questionable ethics.
Take Action
Industry pledge
We are calling on coffee companies (traders, retailers, suppliers etc) to pledge to cut ties with the civet coffee industry - to never sell, endorse, or be affiliated with companies that sell civet coffee.
Join us in making the coffee industry truly ethical and sustainable by filling in the form. Your company will then be contacted with campaign assets to share with your networks and customers.

Consumer Voice
We are calling on coffee lovers to add their voice to our campaign by joining us in calling on eBay, Amazon and Etsy to ban the sale of civet coffee on their platforms.
Prohibition of online civet coffee selling will help disrupt the global supply chain of cruel civet coffee.
Join us in making the coffee industry truly ethical and sustainable by signing our petition.
