About the film
Civet coffee (also known as 'kopi luwak,' 'weasel coffee,' and 'cat-poo-chino') is coffee that has been partially digested by civets, nocturnal cat-like animals. Since it's rise to fame in popular media in the early 2000's, the international civet coffee market has continued to grow, and its market value is now expected to reach an estimated $10.9billion USD by 2030.
In attempts to meet consumer demand, civet coffee is now made through the caging and force-feeding of wild-caught civets across southeast Asia. Caged production has lead to devastating consequences for animal welfare, conservation, and human health.
Yet still, civet coffee continues to grow in popularity across the world.
Still, civet coffee tourism is promoted widely to coffee enthusiasts and to travellers.

With our documentary, we are calling on animal NGOs, and the tourism and coffee industries to join our call- to make civet coffee history.

Take Action
"Civet Coffee: From Rare to Reckless" is available to watch for free on YouTube.
Alongside our film, we're calling for a global stand against civet coffee.

Tourism Industry Action
Compelling scientific evidence shows that the welfare of civets cannot in any way be met in civet coffee attractions. Since our film, TripAdvisor have taken action to investigate civet coffee on their platform. We won't stop there. We are calling on the UK Government to legally prohibit civet coffee tourism marketing and sale in the UK. You can add your support by writing to your local MP using the template letter below.

Policy Change
Collectively, we are calling on tourism operators to stop marketing and selling tickets to civet coffee attractions. We want this to be a legal requirement.
Starting in the UK, we have issued an NGO Appeal Letter to the UK Government, calling for civet coffee tourism to be included in the Animals (Low-Welfare Activities Abroad) Act.
You can read the appeal letter below.

Coffee Industry Action
Although civet coffee is driven by the tourism industry, civet coffee products are also sold to consumers across the world. We are calling on coffee traders (coffee shops, coffee brands, exporters and importers) to pledge to be Civet Free and to never sell or promote civet coffee.
Displayed prominently on our website and via in-shop certification, Civet Free status will inform consumers about ethical coffee consumption.
Film Supporters

Dame Jane Goodall
Dame Jane Goodall supports our call to end industrial civet coffee farming by being interviewed for our upcoming documentary. Jane highlights the conservation, animal welfare, and human health risks posed by this dangerously destructive and senseless industry: all in the name of apparent "luxury".
